Title: Production Engineer
Location: Rotterdam Junction, NY
Reports to: Supervisor- Production Engineering
SI Group, Inc. is seeking a self-directed, motivated individual for a full-time Production Engineer position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The position will work closely with other engineers, and will support all areas of the production facility. The Production Engineer will be responsible for continuous improvement and implementation of new products and general operation troubleshooting for the Rotterdam Junction Production Facility.
Education & Skills
- B.S. Chemical Engineering preferred: Min. B.S. in Chemistry and M.S. in Engineering
- 0 - 10 years engineering experience in a chemical plant; salary commensurate with experience
- Windows, Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication (internal and external)
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Previous manufacturing experience is desired
- Familiarity with automation systems and data historians such as Fisher Provox, Honeywell TDC 3000, Delta V, PLCs and Pi Historian is desired
Knowledge & Abilities
- Process Safety Management, EHS protocols, ISO 9000, RC 14001
- Knowledge of batch, semi-continuous and continuous process equipment, processing and control
- Ability to lead and direct cross-disciplinary teams
- Basic knowledge of Chemical Engineering and general process equipment
Include, but not limited to:
Provide technical support to Production and all its personnel. Technical support shall include the Distributive Control Systems (DCS) used on-site.
Work with Production, Quality, Process Engineering, R&D, Pilot Plant, and Sales to solve equipment/chemistry problems in the plant, to improve plant operations and implement new product initiatives.
Develop generalized project scopes and limited process engineering packages for retrofit of facilities, necessary environmental controls, and Safety & Health upgrades to support the capital budget process.
Implement improved process control strategies to batch and continuous manufacturing equipment.
Conduct training or assist other departments in training production personnel in the design intent of new or used equipment, its operation and use, and the proper care and maintenance of that equipment.
Conduct MOC’s (Management of Change) that are production related to process equipment and instrumentation. Attend and participate in MOC’s that are related to chemistry & formula improvements. Also attend and participate in PHA’s (Process Hazard analysis) for existing processes as well as new product initiatives.
Participate in other improvement project initiatives as a team member and as a manufacturing representative.
Assist and/or lead in incident and near miss investigations.
Develop SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for equipment operation. Also review, revise and document existing SOP’s accordingly on an annual basis. This includes writing process and equipment SOP’s to satisfy OSHA’s PSM standard.
