SI Group Announces Regional Drill
SCHENECTADY, NY – August 20, 2008 – SI Group announces a Regional Emergency Response Drill to be held at their Rotterdam Junction site. On Thursday, August 21, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, a group of regional organizations will put plans to practice in order to insure a synchronized emergency response process. This drill provides an opportunity to test the communications and coordination of the following regional organizations.
- SI Group's Emergency Response Team
- Schenectady County Hazardous Materials Response Team
- Rotterdam Junction Fire Department
- Pattersonville Fire Department
- NY State Emergency Management Office
- Rotterdam Police Access Medical (SI Group on-site medical services provider)
SI Group is one of the pioneers in this type of initiative. The company maintains close working relationships with response agencies and has chosen to stage this drill at the Rotterdam Junction site as part of their efforts to ensure the safety of the local community in an event of an incident. As a member of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), SI Group follows the ACC's Guiding Principles of Responsible Care®; the chemical industry's global voluntary initiative to continuously improve Environmental, Health & Safety and Security performance.
Responsible Care® focuses on safe operations and accident prevention, but also recognizes the need for chemical sites to work closely with local emergency responders to coordinate response plans and routinely test their combined capabilities.
