Product Safety & Risk Management

SI Group is committed to educating the general public about products we offer. As part of the ACC Responsible Care initiative, we provide Product Safety Summaries that list the following details for high priority products:

  • Chemical identity
  • Product overview
  • Physical/chemical properties
  • Health information
  • Environmental information
  • Hazard information
  • Exposure potential
  • Risk management activities

About Our Product Safety Summaries

In developing product summaries, SI Group categorizes its products on their hazard characteristics, market application and production volume. Other factors, including the likelihood of human and/or environmental contact and the potential environmental and human health hazards and risks associated with their chemical compositions, are included as well. These hazards and risks are identified through our participation in programs such as the USEPA's High Production Volume Chemical Challenge and European Risk Assessment/ Risk Reduction Strategies on several of our products. Information is also gathered through voluntary product stewardship activities and testing done in-house by SI Group, and via research done by industrial consortia in which we participate.

The Product Safety Summary is intended to provide a general overview of the chemical substance. The information on the Summary is basic and is not intended to provide emergency response information, medical information or treatment facts. The summary should not be used to provide in-depth safety and health information. In-depth safety and health information can be found on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the chemical/product or treatment information.

With these Product Safety Summaries, SI Group addresses the requirements of the American Chemistry Council's (ACC) Responsible Care® initiative.
